About

Diplomacy & Politics (DiploPolis) is an independent publication covering diplomacy, geopolitics and international affairs. It publishes daily commentary, long-form analysis, essays and curated resources on the forces shaping the world — with a specific focus on the perspectives, interests and stories that mainstream international coverage leaves behind.

It is written and edited by one person.

My name is Sunny Peter. I am a Mumbai-based writer and analyst with a Master's degree in Politics and International Relations. I have been watching international affairs for decades — from South Asia's nuclear standoffs to the slow unravelling of the post-Cold War order, from the rise of the Global South as a political identity to the selective application of international law that protects the powerful and abandons everyone else.

DiploPolis began as a conviction that international affairs coverage needed more argument and less aggregation. More moral clarity and less diplomatic hedging. More attention to who pays the cost of decisions made in rooms they were never invited into.

The publication has one editorial position: that the rules of the international order mean something only if they apply to everyone. When they do not — and they frequently do not — that gap is worth naming, precisely and without euphemism.

DiploPolis is not neutral. It has never claimed to be. What it claims instead is honesty: about its perspective, about its limitations and about the world it is trying to understand.
